Dr. Randall L. Gilbert
(aka: The Buckhunter)
Whitetail Woods: A Deer Hunter’s Quest is the author’ second contribution to the literature on Odocoileus Virginianus – the white-tailed deer. He is becoming well-known in the emerging world of white-tailed deer experts, is recognized as one of them, and is currently a much sought after speaker at hunting clubs and sportsmen’s events. As the CEO, owner and operator of Buckhunter Associates – a land analysis, deer herd management, and expert deer hunting instruction service, Dr. Gilbert is sharing his passion with anyone who has any interest in America’s favorite big game animal.
Dr. Gilbert pursued the first quarter of his formal educational career as an outstanding and award-winning Social Studies Instructor in the public school system. After earning his doctorate in educational administration, he entered the “battle fields” of high school administration until his formal retirement in 2003. Although his formal educational career paid the bills, it was his longstanding and dedicated interest in the white-tailed deer that fueled his obsession as a “buckhunter.” As an ardent student, observer, amateur artist, and hunter of his favorite subject – the white-tailed deer, he pursued this quarry for over thirty-five years before putting his extensive learnings into written form. Dr. Gilbert’s first book – A-Z Guide to White-tailed Deer and Deer Hunting- was published in 2003 as a means of formally synthesizing his acquired knowledge and transmitting it in a highly enjoyable and readable format to his sons and grandchildren.
